How the Program Works

The QICRESET menu system acts as a front end for the QICLINK operator code reset process.
  1. Technician opens a telnet session to a Linux server that has been setup for QICRESET.
  2. Upon Login, QICRESET menu system launched. CTRL-C has been disabled. CTRL-Z terminates the connection (the technician shell has been set to be the QICRESET script.
  3. Technician enters the operator code to be reset.
  4. (HIDDEN) QICRESET spawns a telnet session to the QICLINK server.
  5. (HIDDEN) QICRESET logs in to UNIX host and to QICLINK with an operator code that has access to ``sr''
  6. (HIDDEN) QICRESET accesses ``sr'' and resets the operator code that the user has provided.
  7. (HIDDEN) QICRESET captures the temporary password provided by QICLINK and displays it to the technician.
  8. (HIDDEN) QICRESET logs the reset to log file.
